Feyona van Stom at La Perouse Museum - International Women’s Day

  • La Perouse Museum 1542 Anzac Parade La Perouse, NSW, 2036 Australia (map)

A conversation between sculpture and museum collections

Exhibition runs from 8 to 16 March 2022

La Perouse Museum is delighted to host a selection of female torsos by the renowned sculptor Feyona van Stom to celebrate 2022 International Women’s Day.

The exhibition comprises powerful and alluring sculptures in a range of media, juxtaposed alongside the Museum’s permanent collections. The resulting ‘conversations’ between Ms. van Stom’s stunning works and the collection throughout the Museum not only challenge the predominantly traditionally patriarchal readings of history, but also create unexpected and beautifully aesthetic connections between the old and the new.

About the artist:

Feyona van Stom has exhibited her artworks since 1990 and has lived and worked in Hong Kong, America and Australia. Ms. van Stom has studied painting in Connecticut, USA and in Sydney, Australia. She received the Diploma in fine arts and won the Sculpture prize at Seaforth college of Fine Arts, Sydney in 1994. She has operated her own galleries in Whale Beach and in Woolloomooloo, and has also been President of the Sculptors Society of NSW for more than 10 years, and was Vice president for 3 years prior. Feyona van Stom’s artworks are held in collections in America, South America, Canada, Europe and the UK, in China and Japan as well as in Australia and New Zealand and Africa.
